Messinia, with its sun-drenched hills and fertile soil, has been a cradle of olive cultivation since ancient times, with roots tracing back to Mycenaean civilization. This rich heritage laid the foundation for a culture deeply connected to the land and its bounty.
Foundations of a Family Legacy (1959)
The story of ALFA MESSINIAS began in 1959 in the village of Meropi, Messinia—a land renowned for olive and fig cultivation. Dimitris Konstantopoulos, together with his sons Giorgos and Spyros, created a family business born out of love for the land and a desire to offer pure, natural products—products they proudly placed on their own table. In these early years, strong foundations and relationships of trust were built, ensuring authenticity and quality.
Growth and Global Recognition (1981–1994)
As global demand for high-quality Greek products grew, ALFA MESSINIAS established itself as a trusted family-run business specializing in dried Kalamata figs and premium olives. From 1981 to 1994, the company strengthened its reputation for excellence, forging strong ties with local producers and positioning Messinia’s treasures on the world stage.
Expansion and Innovation (1994–2013)
In 1994, a new era began when the company relocated to Meligalas and was renamed G. Konstantopoulos & Sons, operating under the trade name ALFA MESSINIAS. Alongside Giorgos, his children Dimitris, Fotis, and Aris joined the business, continuing the family vision. Exports expanded beyond Greece to the USA, Canada, Australia, and later to EU countries such as France, Germany, and the UK. During this period, the company proudly obtained HACCP, ISO, and IFS certifications, affirming its commitment to quality, safety, and transparency.
Diversification and the Fourth Generation’s Vision (2013–Today)
Since 2013, ALFA MESSINIAS has broadened its product range to include olive oil, vinegar, honey, capers, and other local organic and conventional products. Investments in modern facilities and environmentally friendly practices, along with traceability systems, ensure full transparency from field to shelf. Today, with the fourth generation—Xenia and Giorgos—carrying forward the vision, the company remains true to its values. New creations include a line of seven unique herb-based recipes and an exceptional collection of Greek balsamics, each reflecting the biodiversity of Messinia. These products are more than flavors—they are expressions of heritage, blending creativity with tradition to deliver authentic Mediterranean taste.
